The calibration of a camera consists of determining its projection model, which is the correspondence between the image pixels and the incident light rays. In a medical context, the calibration of the endoscope is important for two reasons:

1. It is a great step toward the development of navigation systems for minimally invasive treatments and procedures.

2. It enables the correction of the endoscopic video in order to compensate the radial distortion and improve the surgeon's ability to gain depth perception during surgery.

Goal is to validate calibration procedures, leverage simpler ways to "quick calibrate" the instruments using new technology, and to introduce new solutions into the field based on discoveries and innovation.
